Who I AM

My photo
Hello everyone, I am 23 years old and a Physical Education. I graduated from SUNY CORTLAND upstate New York. I am currently getting my masters in HPER at Emporia State University in Kansas.I currently work at Malverne High School as a leave replacement for physical education. I also teach 1 health and physical education class at the middle school for their district. I love volleyball and I am very competitive. I like challenges and being pushed to my limits. I've done some amazing DVD workouts such as Insanity and Insanity Asylum and P90X2. They can change your physical appearance tremendously. Your results are based on what you give in, how much you will push yourself, how much pain you can take and keep pushing knowing it will only benefit you. How much sweat are you willing to sweat? I believe that every person in this world can make a difference in a positive way, my way is by teaching. This blog is mainly from my undergraduate degree but I tend to add more post as I continue my career.

Darwin Barney

Darwin Barney, from the Chicago Cubs, is the current starting 2nd baseman after only one year in the professional league. He is a quarter Japanese, quarter Korean, and some different kinds of white. In this video, he talks about how he is breaking his own "stereotype." He has always limited himself because he was not the "average" baseball player, especially here in America. He withheld himself because of this, but now he is breaking himself out of it. This is very true for myself. I have always limited myself because of my height and size. I never got into basketball because I was just too short. This is not true, if you train hard and never give up, you can succeed. There are some basketball players in the professionals that are 5'8. How did they do this? They did it by not "stereotyping" themselves and kept practicing. Darwin Barney has greatly improved over the years and he is not becoming a recognized baseball player. He is quoted saying, "you set your own boundaries on yourself." "You are your worst critic." If you do not believe in yourself in life, you will not see your own full potential that you are capable of. In life you have to try and stretch out what you think you can do and go out and attempt something you never thought was possible. As with myself, being a future physical educator, I want my students to realize that even though they are all genetically different and their physical appearances are not the same, they can still all accomplish the unexpected with hard work.
