April 14th, 2012 was SUNY Cortlands Relay for life. Relay for life is a volunteer-driven cancer fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. At Relay for Life you come together as a community, as one, and walk a track and raise money to fight cancer. This is a very touching event because many people have died from this terrible disease, and only some survive. The ceremonial speech was very touching to everyone that was there, from survivors to people who never had anyone close to them get cancer. Right after the speech the whole place took a lap in silence for remembrance of onces who have passed away. This event went on from 6 pm to 6 am in the morning. I was there to support my team, Cortland APEM. This is the first time I participated here at Cortland for Relay for Life and it was a great time. Walking for a cause is a great thing, also there were many games to get involved in. I did the 3 legged race which consisted of two people who tied one foot together and run around the track. My partner and I took a strong lead right out of the starting gate, but fell short in the end because we decided to hop instead of running the track. Lactic acid built up and we were moving too fast for our feet to keep up and we fell right down. We got up and finished but everyone passed us. It was great to participate even though we lost. It was great to see everyone there for the same reason of finding a cure for cancer.
Who I AM
- Karagrozis
- Hello everyone, I am 23 years old and a Physical Education. I graduated from SUNY CORTLAND upstate New York. I am currently getting my masters in HPER at Emporia State University in Kansas.I currently work at Malverne High School as a leave replacement for physical education. I also teach 1 health and physical education class at the middle school for their district. I love volleyball and I am very competitive. I like challenges and being pushed to my limits. I've done some amazing DVD workouts such as Insanity and Insanity Asylum and P90X2. They can change your physical appearance tremendously. Your results are based on what you give in, how much you will push yourself, how much pain you can take and keep pushing knowing it will only benefit you. How much sweat are you willing to sweat? I believe that every person in this world can make a difference in a positive way, my way is by teaching. This blog is mainly from my undergraduate degree but I tend to add more post as I continue my career.
