Do you remember the “wax-on, wax-off” lesson from the movie The Karate Kid?
Wel, let me refresh your memory. Mr. Miyagi agrees to teach Daniel karate, but to Daniel all it seems like he’s doing is chores. There is a scene where Daniel is fed up with Mr. Miyagi ordering him to “wax on” and “wax off,” sanding the floor, and painting the fence and the house when he’s supposed to be learning karate. In reality, Daniel was learning karate all along. This scene is a great analogy for life. We don’t realize that what might not make sense today will make absolute sense in the future. All the trials, the pain, and the heartbreak is building you up for a awesome purpose, but if you give up too soon, you will be unprepared for your destiny and glory! Trust the process, learn the lessons, and keep moving forward! Just because you might not realize what reason you are doing something for in the beginning does not mean that it is a useless journey. Everything will work out in the end and come together. This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. In the new Karate Kid, when Jackie Chan makes Jaden Smith put his coat on and off of the stick that is coming out of the pole, he gets frustrated and thinks it is useless. Later on Jackie Chan goes to punch Jaden Smith and puts up a block and continues to block all his moves. This was all learned from the coat hanging he did. It all paid off even though it seemed like nonsense in the beginning to him. Give everything a chance to let it all click in.
