Who I AM

My photo
Hello everyone, I am 23 years old and a Physical Education. I graduated from SUNY CORTLAND upstate New York. I am currently getting my masters in HPER at Emporia State University in Kansas.I currently work at Malverne High School as a leave replacement for physical education. I also teach 1 health and physical education class at the middle school for their district. I love volleyball and I am very competitive. I like challenges and being pushed to my limits. I've done some amazing DVD workouts such as Insanity and Insanity Asylum and P90X2. They can change your physical appearance tremendously. Your results are based on what you give in, how much you will push yourself, how much pain you can take and keep pushing knowing it will only benefit you. How much sweat are you willing to sweat? I believe that every person in this world can make a difference in a positive way, my way is by teaching. This blog is mainly from my undergraduate degree but I tend to add more post as I continue my career.

Being A PE Teacher Is Not About The MONEY

Today in class we went over the price an average PE teacher or teacher that is starting out. We figured a starting salary would be around 40,000 dollars. This made me realize that I can't live on this amount of money. That is about 4 thousand dollars a month for the 10 months your are working, after taxes that is only 3,000. Once I pay for my rent, food, cable and memberships I will be down to about 300 bucks. This isn't even including money to spend for clothes. Once I go out on a date and doctor visit copays I will have nothing left. I thought about changing my major to chase the american dream and be rich, but then happiness popped into my mind. I rather be struggling to get by salary wise for a few years and educating students then be wealthy doing another occupation. To me, if i was able to just get by with the amount of money I will be making as a PE teacher, it is totally worth it. I love students. Waking up every day knowing I will enjoy what I'm doing is a great pleasure to me. I do not care if it's a low paying job, money is not everything, happiness is. I consider my future job as something I love to do and if you love something and get paid for it even if it is a slim amount it is worth every hour, day, week, month, and year that I put into it and expanding my knowledge and creating physically education people.
